“ENLIGHTENED ALLYSHIP”
WITH
Clan Mothers Healing Village
Lt.-Gov. Anita R. Neville invites Manitobans – particularly those who have never visited Government House before – to attend the next presentation in a series of free public events designed to welcome Manitobans into Government House and showcase outstanding and inspiring Manitobans who, through words and deeds, continually work to make the province better for all.
Lt.-Gov. Neville is pleased to welcome special guests from the Clan Mothers Healing Village and Knowledge Centre for the June event.
The Clan Mothers Healing Village and Knowledge Centre provides mid- to long-term support to women, girls, two-spirit and transgender persons who have been victims of sexual violence, exploitation and trafficking. The presenters will share the true meaning of allyship and pose the question, “How can women with different life experiences come together in a positive way to make real change?” The gathering will be an opportunity to learn how women can respectfully work together, and how when women unite, change happens.
The event will be held June 20 at Government House. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Program begins at 7 p.m. Parking is available on both sides of the Government House driveway.
Light refreshments to follow.
Those wishing to attend must register in advance with the Office of the Lieutenant Governor by calling 204-945-2753. Guests may reserve a maximum of two seats per registration.
Please note: The Evenings at Government House series will pause for the months of July and August, and will resume in September.
Registration is now open. Seating is limited. There is no cost to attend.

Elder Abuse Fact Sheet from the World Health Organization:
http://www.inpea.net/resources/Elder_Abuse_Fact_Sheet.pdf
The Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health is developing guidelines to support health and social service providers to recognize, assess and find ways to help address social isolation and loneliness among older people in Canada. We have launched a national survey asking adults who are 65 and older to share their knowledge and insights of social isolation and loneliness. In particular, we are interested in: · Learning whether/how older adults see social isolation and loneliness as a health issue · Gauging the awareness of older adults to address experiences of social isolation and loneliness We would greatly appreciate it if you would complete the survey (if you are eligible) and to share it within your organizations and networks. The survey should take 5-7 minutes to complete. We would also appreciate it if you could share this message with your friends and colleagues. The survey data will help inform the guidelines as well as how we share them.
Thank you for your consideration.

Did you know, according to the United Nations, around 1 in 6 people 60 years and older experienced some form of abuse in community settings during the past year? The World Health Organization defines elder abuse as “a single, or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person.” Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional or financial harm, and may not be intentional. The issue is closely tied to ageism, an underlying prejudice against older people leading to discrimination and neglect. June 15th marks Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and in consideration of that upcoming event, we invite OTR participants to join us and the WRHA HART team in a conversation about Elder Abuse. Unable to make it but still want the resources? Register to be included on the mailing list. WHEN: Tuesday, June 13 - 10 a.m. WHERE: Zoom - see confirmation for the link.
